Expats Stranded Abroad Residence Will Be Valid For 12 Months Instead Of 6 months

Kuwait Ministry of Interior said that a decision was issued to allow expats who have valid residence and are outside the country, that residence will be valid for 12 months instead of 6 months due to the exceptional circumstances faced in Kuwait due to coronavirus.

Kuwait Ministry of Interior said that it will automatically renew all kinds of visit visas, which are expired, until August 31, 2020. They will be given a temporary residency (Article 14) by the system automatically.

Kuwait Ministry of Interior include taking into account of the circumstances that have taken place in the country and to ease the expatriates residing in the country and abroad, granting the violating residents a temporary residence that is valid for a period of three months, starting from 31/5/2020, with a maximum that it ends in all cases on 31/8/2020.

Kuwait authorities have made an additional extension as the government offices are still closed in the country and International flight service are yet to normalize.

Meanwhile, The Kuwait cooperative societies working hours will be from 8:00 am to 12:00 AM during the partial curfew, Chairperson of the Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies Fahad Al-Enezi said.

The step is part of a slew of measures to ease coronavirus-related restrictions. As per the new measures, mosques will reopen from Sunday in accordance with heath guidelines and preventive measures. We cannot move from one phase to another unless requirements for moving is achieved. If not, we will prolong the phase or step back to the previous one.

Kuwait lawmakers calls to adopt a quota system for main expat communities in the country in a bid to balance the demographic structure. The draft law stipulates a certain percentage for the main expat communities in the country depending on its current size as the proposed percentage is from the Kuwaiti population of 1.4 million at present.
