Around 6,000 Expats, Kuwaitis receive driving licenses ‘online’
KUWAIT CITY, June 13: Around 6,000 individuals 60 percent residents and 40 percent citizens – received their renewed driving licences through the online service from Saturday to Wednesday.
According to the source, the Ministry of Interior launched the online service for renewing driving licences to reduce crowds in traffic departments in the six governorates following the resumption of work. The source disclosed the process of receiving the licence in front of the device does not take more than six minutes, while it takes only 10 minutes of waiting in the visitors hall.
The source emphasized that adherence to all health regulations laid down by the Ministry of Health is a prerequisite for entry into the waiting room; affirming the instructions are clear, particularly the exclusion of those not committed to regulations on social distancing and wearing a mask and gloves.
The source said Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic and Operations Major General Jamal Al-Sayegh issued verbal instructions to the traffic departments to ensure no one among those whose licence expired is abused due to the current circumstances.
He affirmed the goal of the ministry is to facilitate procedures for citizens and residents, not abuse them. He added the licence validity for residents is three years, instead of one year; and 10 years for citizens.
He said the process of distributing driving licenses continues throughout the week at the Sports Building in Al- Nasr Club in Ardiya from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
