Kuwait Parliament rejects no-confidence motion against Education Minister

KUWAIT, Sept 10: The National Assembly of Kuwait rejected Thursday a no-confidence motion against Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr. Saud Al-Harbi, with 29 members supporting him.
Al-Harbi was opposed by 15 members while three abstained.

The signatories of the motion were MPs Abdulwahab Al-Babtain, Dr. Bader Al-Mulla, Dr. Abdulkarim Al-Kandari, Yousef Al-Fadhala, Dr. Odah Al-Rowaie, Al-humaidi Al-Subaie, Dr. Khalil Abul, Omar Al-Tabtabae, Farraj Al-Arbeed, and Naser Al Dosari.

Al-Harbi said obtaining the confidence “increased responsibility entrusted upon him,” as he ask Allah the Almighty to provide him with strength to further improve education.

The Minister expressed sincere thanks and gratitude to each MP for granting him confidence to continue working, expressing at the same time his appreciation to everyone who disagreed with him.
Article 144 of the parliament’s bylaw stats that majority of the house, excluding the ministers, could topple the minister.(KUNA)
