14,065 swab tests conducted for travelers at Airport in last 2 months

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 3: The Health Ministry conducted 14,065 swab tests for travelers at Kuwait International Airport over the past two months, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources from the health sector.

Sources disclosed the ministry applied health measures on 1,008 flights — 69,329 passengers who arrived in Kuwait in the last two months, specifically from the beginning of August to Sept 28.

Sources confirmed the employees at the Public Health Department are exerting tremendous efforts to organize and supervise health-related procedures in all terminals at the international airport; including quarantine, ‘Shlonik’ application, online registration in the ministry’s database and random swab testing.

Sources underscored the importance of the ministry’s efforts in serving the arriving passengers as the country continues to grapple with the ‘covid-19’ crisis. Sources said the ministry formed medical teams that were assigned in various buildings at the airport, indicating these teams’ tasks include ensuring all arriving passengers have activated the ‘Shlonik’ application on their mobile phones and passed through the thermal cameras to check their temperature. After these procedures, 10 percent of every plane’s passengers are chosen randomly for ‘PCR’ examination inside the airport clinics, followed by the health registration and monitoring to guarantee completion of all health procedures at the airport.
