Arab League stresses int’l pressure to compel Houthis

CAIRO, Nov 23: Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Abul Gheit underlined need for international pressure to compel the Houthis adhere to a cease-fire and start political talks in Yemen, said a statement on Tuesday. This came during a meeting between Abul Gheit and UN Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg, discussing developments in Yemen and ways to bring about a political settlement to end suffering of the people there, an Arab League added.

Abul Gheit expressed deep concern about the Houthi escalation, especially on the Marib front, forcing many people to flee their homes. The statement indicated that Abul Gheit listened to a presentation by the UN envoy on the latest developments on the Yemeni arena.(KUNA)
