Shots for 5-12 yrs soon

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 7: With the expedition of the government’s efforts to continue improving the epidemiological situation in the country, and to preserve the positive steps that have been achieved to control the COVID-19 spread in the country, reliable government sources revealed that the COVID-19 Committee of the Ministry of Health has finally finished endorsing the lists of children aged 5-12 years registered on the ministry’s website to receive COVID-19 vaccines, reports Al-Qabas daily.

They indicated that the first batches of approved vaccines for children will arrive in the country by the end of January 2022 or the beginning of February 2022 at the latest, according to the conditions of the manufacturers of these vaccines. The sources reiterated that the COVID-19 Committee seeks to provide these jabs to the registered children as soon as possible.

They highlighted the strict directives issued by the Cabinet in the past few days to speed up the pace of vaccination of the third dose and to vaccinate children particularly, following the emergence of the Omicron variant in some neighboring countries, and in consideration of the frequent contact with young children in schools, nurseries, kindergartens, and others that could increase the chances of spreading the infection among them, and then transmitting the virus to adults in their homes. Meanwhile, the Cabinet, in its next meeting, is planning to instruct the relevant authorities to monitor compliance with the preventive requirements in commercial complexes, ministries, public transportation, and mosques.
