Kuwaiti out on bail, Filipino stays in jail

KUWAIT CITY, June 8: The detention renewal judge released a citizen accused of involvement in the ‘liquor yacht’ case on KD500 bail, while it extended the detention of the main defendant — the Filipino captain of the yacht owned by a social media influencer — for 14 days for further investigation, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The defendants have been accused of smuggling a large quantity of liquor found in the yacht. Case files indicate that officers from Kuwait General Administration of Customs were able to intercept the yacht, which came from another Gulf country. When the officers inspected the yacht at Umm Al-Maradim Customs Center, they discovered 700 bottles of assorted alcoholic drinks.
