Illegal beauty parlor raided, ‘owner’ held

KUWAIT CITY, June 29: The tripartite committee raided a women’s salon in Sabah Al-Salem area and referred the owner to the Public Prosecution for operating the facility without a license, reports Al-Rai daily.

The Assistant Undersecretary for Civil Medical Services Affairs at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Fatima Al-Najjar, announced that the women’s salon employed a Filipino domestic worker who does not have a license to practice a profession, and uses unlicensed devices such as a laser, in addition to finding materials such as topical drugs and ampoules and substances not licensed by Ministry of Health. Dr. Al-Najjar praised the efforts of the tripartite committee consisting representatives from the Ministry of Health – Health Licensing Department and the Medicines Inspection Department, the Interior Ministry and Public Authority for Manpower. The sources stated that the raid came after a Kuwaiti woman who visited the salon drew her attention to the presence of these materials and devices.
