Kuwait takes effective measures to combat Covid-19

‘Amendment of preventive health law and economy contributed greatly’

CAIRO, July 26: Kuwaiti Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights Affairs Talal Al-Mutairi affirmed on Monday that his country had taken many measures since the beginning of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic to protect the safety of citizens and residents.

This came in a statement to KUNA during his participation in the fourth Arab regional high-level conference on the protection and promotion of human rights. He added that among the measures taken by Kuwait in the amendment of the preventive health law and economy contributed greatly to reducing the effects of the pandemic in terms of humanitarian and economic terms. He pointed out that the conference touched upon the instructions of late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to the government since the beginning of the pandemic to provide assistance and protection to all segments of society.

Al-Mutairi stressed the pandemic have had a significant impact on enjoying basic human rights issues, including the right to live and access to health services, considering that the conference was an occasion to recall the efforts made by Arab countries in addressing Covid-19. The conference was launched today in cooperation between the Arab League and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR). (KUNA)
