KUWAIT CITY, Nov 23: Bangladeshi Ambassador to Kuwait Major General Ashiq Al-Zaman has announced that the upcoming ministerial meeting between his country and Kuwait will focus on the entry visas for Bangladeshis, while representative of Kuwaiti Armed Forces Major General Khaled Ali Al-Kandari affirmed the two countries have had strong relations for decades, and both of them are keen on further strengthening cooperation in military and defense fields, reports Al-Qabas daily.
In a speech he delivered on behalf of Chief of Staff of Kuwait Army Lieutenant General Sheikh Khaled Saleh Al-Sabah during the celebration of the 51st anniversary of the Armed Forces of Bangladesh recently, Al-Kandari disclosed the People’s Republic of Bangladesh confirmed this friendship in 1991 when it joined the International Alliance for the Liberation of Kuwait.
He said this supportive stance strengthened ties between Kuwait and Bangladesh. “Since then, defense cooperation continued to grow on several levels, punctuated by meetings of defense officials to strengthen coordination in different professional military fields,” he added.
On the other hand, Al-Zaman said Kuwait has a special place in the hearts and minds of the people of Bangladesh; stressing that it is a strategic partner of his country in various fields. He revealed the two countries have been discussing ways to strengthen cooperation in the defense field. He went on to say that he had a meeting with the Ministry of Interior to facilitate the issuance of visas for Bangladeshis, especially the skilled workers. He confirmed that a company hired about 500 nurses from Bangladesh and these nurses will start working in mid-December.
