Royal imposter gets 10 years in jail

KUWAIT CITY, March 5: The Court of Cassation upheld the ruling of a lower court that sentenced an individual to 10 years in prison with hard labor and obligated him to return KD2 million that he fraudulently obtained from a famous personality by claiming to be a member of the ruling family, reports Al- Seyassah daily.

The victim’s lawyer, Attorney Abdulaziz Al-Balooshi, said his client is a prominent figure in the Kuwaiti society, from whom the accused got the above mentioned amount by pretending to be a member of the ruling family. The accused obtained the money using modern electronic means while he is in prison. Meanwhile, the Public Prosecution has ordered the detention of an officer working in the Ministry of Interior and others for a period of 21 days at the Central Prison, reports Al-Rai daily.
