Council member, mediator get 10 yrs jail with hard labor; fined KD 360,000
KUWAIT CITY, March 21: The Criminal Court sentenced a member of the Municipal Council and a mediator to 10 years in prison with hard labor and fined them KD 360,000 for bribery, in addition to a businessman who was sentenced to five years imprisonment, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The Public Prosecution charged the defendants with bribery as they agreed to complete two transactions for an undisclosed company in exchange for KD 180,000. Meanwhile, the Misdemeanor Court recently sentenced a police officer with the rank of major and his assistants to five years in prison for assaulting two prosecutors, reports Al-Jarida daily.
