Suspects involved in visa trading scandal granted bail

KUWAIT CITY, April 1: The Public Prosecution released three Kuwaitis – secretaries of MPs – and 15 Syrians on bail after interrogating them regarding their involvement in visa trading, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting a reliable source. The source revealed that the defendants obtained visas for 17 Iraqis and Syrians at a fee of KD1,000 each according to the case documents and preliminary investigations.

The source said the prosecution charged the defendants with visa trading, money laundering and bribery; indicating some of the accused said they obtained approval for such transactions through the lawmakers, without disclosing if money was involved in such approval.
