64 reckless drivers held, 179 vehicles, motorcycles seized

26,000 traffic violations issued in one week

KUWAIT CITY, April 3: Over the past week, the security and traffic campaigns resulted in issuing 26,000 traffic citations, arresting 64 reckless drivers, referring 179 vehicles and motorcycles to the ministry garage, and 16 juveniles were sent to the Juvenile Prosecution, after they were caught driving without a driving license, reports Al-Jarida daily. The Public Relations and Traffic Awareness Department at the GTD, Major Abdullah Bu Hassan, said that the campaigns were carried in all the governorates throughout the past week.

The department also dealt with 1,564 accidents, 234 of them serious and 1,330 minor accidents. This is in addition to dealing with 3,417 various reports received by the operations room of the Ministry of Interior. Bu Hassan stated that the men in uniform also arrested 102 security persons wanted by law for various reasons, such as those reported absconding, violators of residence and labor law, criminals and those who did not carry their personal identifi- cation papers. The securitymen also impounded 8 vehicles required by security and judicial authorities, and issued 5 violations for parking vehicles in places reserved for the disabled people.
