Ministry of Education’s Comprehensive Approach to Drug and Smoking Awareness

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 13, (Agencies): The Ministry of Education, represented by the Department of Social and Psychological Services, has prepared a guidance manual on drug abuse, psychological effects, and electronic smoking in schools as part of its efforts to protect students from these issues. The manual aims to raise awareness about the dangers of smoking and drugs in middle and high schools, outlining the nature of the awareness group’s work, its formation mechanism, objectives, and key activities and programs.
The report emphasizes the importance of shedding light on the various types of dangers associated with smoking and drugs during school periods. It highlights the Ministry’s initiatives to educate students about the risks of tobacco and drug use and the establishment of programs to shape their perspectives on these issues.
The report also details the Ministry’s efforts, including the distribution of informative materials, participation in drug prevention workshops, organizing visits to youth care centers, creating informative displays about smoking-related processes, conducting social outings for awareness group members, and implementation of various awareness programs and projects.
Furthermore, the Ministry has taken measures such as implementing preventive and therapeutic plans through early detection of drug abuse and psychological effects, conducting nationwide awareness campaigns against drugs and psychological influences, and organizing joint training programs between the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Education.
The collaborative approach involves collaboration with parents in educational programs and activities to ensure effective and fruitful outcomes. Additionally, the Ministry is working on establishing new mechanisms for early detection and addressing drug-related cases, holding meetings with regional educational directors and supervisory committees, and offering educational programs to train teenagers in social and psychological skills to resist peer pressure.
The report concludes with a call to parents to monitor their children’s behavior preventively and emphasizes the importance of implementing educational values in schools to foster the proper upbringing of the younger generation.
