Ministry of Education keen to support gifted Kuwaiti students

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 2: The Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education at the Ministry of Education, Hessa Al-Mutawa, expressed her happiness at the victory of two Kuwaiti students with gold and silver medals in the Arab Championship for Mathematics and Logic Games (ALECSO), which was held in Tunisia recently, where the student Sarah Hussein Jamal won second place and a gold medal, and the student Youssef Kankuni won the silver medal.

In a statement on the sidelines of her reception of the Kuwaiti team participating in the competition in the ceremony hall at Kuwait International Airport, Al-Mutawa stressed the ministry’s keenness to care for, support and train talented students in scientific competitions to represent and raise the flag of the State of Kuwait in all international forums, reports Al-Rai daily.

Al-Mutawa thanked all those in charge of this competition, including the general mathematics guidance and guidance in the educational areas, for their interest in the outstanding students and providing them with all means of support and assistance in reaching these advanced positions.

In turn, the mathematics supervisor in the Capital Educational District and the head of the team participating in the tournament, Ali Al-Khudari, said that the students Sarah and Youssef were chosen after a three-stage screening of all governorates of Kuwait, and they were trained and prepared for this tournament, explaining that 10 Arab countries participated in this tournament, stressing on the need to pay attention to students, develop their skills, and support such international tournaments and competitions at all educational levels and scientific fields.
