Man fatally attacked by Siberian tiger after pet dog falls victim
MOSCOW, Russia, Dec 6, (Agencies): A Russian man, whose dog fell victim to a Siberian tiger, met a tragic end at the hands of the same creature. Residing in a secluded part of the country, the 76-year-old villager had trailed the tiger's tracks after the big cat entered Obor and seized his dog, as reported in a Monday Telegram post by the Amur Tiger Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to animal protection.
Discovering the Siberian tiger in a nearby forest, the victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, suffered a fatal mauling. Authorities in the remote Khabarovsk territory found his body displaying signs of an animal attack, as confirmed by regional police.
The elderly man had pursued the large cat “for a considerable distance” before meeting the same fate as his canine companion. Law enforcement noted evidence of “an animal’s impact” on the scene. The center suggested that the animal possibly perceived the man as a threat, leading to the fatal attack. The man's lifeless body was located in close proximity to his dog's remains.
In a statement, the tiger center expressed heartfelt condolences to the relatives and friends of the deceased, marking a somber conclusion to the unfortunate encounter between the man and the Siberian tiger.
