Court of Cassation extends deadline in high-profile bribery case
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 21: The Court of Cassation has granted an extension to pronounc the verdict in the bribery case involving a municipal council member, a mediator, and a merchant concerning the allocation of corporate lands. The new deadline for announcing the ruling is set for January 11.

In a prior decision, the Court of Appeal had sentenced the municipal council member and the mediator to 10 years of imprisonment with hard labor. Additionally, the council member was fined 240,000 dinars, while the mediator faced a fine of 360,000 dinars.
The businessman involved in the case was also sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment with hard labor and a fine of 240,000 dinars. This legal action stems from the arrest of a municipal council member caught red-handed receiving a financial bribe through an intermediary to facilitate transactions within the municipality.
