Muted festivities in Amir mourning

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 1: Major General Abdullah Al-Rujaib, the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security, Operations, and Traffic Affairs at the Ministry of Interior, conducted a comprehensive tour of security checkpoints from Mubarakiya, Jaber Causeway, and Subbiya in the northern areas to the southern areas in Khairan chalets.

Metropolitan Antonius, Metropolitan of the See of Jerusalem, Kuwait, and all the Near East leads the New Year prayer at the Coptic Church in Kuwait.

This visit by Major General Abdullah Al- Rujaib was in line with New Year celebrations and was carried out based on directives issued by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Khalid Al-Ahmad Al Sabah, and Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior Sheikh Salim Al-Nawaf. Security vehicles patrolled different parts of Kuwait where the usual celebrations witnessed in previous years were not held in compliance with individuals observing mourning due to the passing of the late Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmed Al Sabah.
