Indian ambassador affirms uninterrupted recruitment of workers to Kuwait

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 16: In an official statement,  Dr. Adarsh Swaika, the Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, affirmed the seamless progress of bringing various types of Indian workers to the country. Dr. Swaika highlighted that the process is unfolding without impediments, following specific mechanisms tailored to the needs of the Kuwaiti market. Notably, he emphasized the high qualifications and training of the Indian community, which is actively engaged in diverse sectors of the labor market.

Speaking during a press conference on the sidelines of the Kashmir Textiles Exhibition’s opening, organized in collaboration with the Kuwaiti Sadu House, Dr. Swaika underscored the significance of cultural exchange as a vital conduit for popular and social communication between nations. He emphasized that cultural exchange establishes common ground and fosters a distinct understanding, citing the global renown of Indian textiles for their quality and creativity.

Drawing attention to the Kashmir region’s specialties in textiles, carpets, saffron, and various food products, Dr. Swaika praised the area’s picturesque nature. He highlighted textiles as a crucial element in the bilateral trade, expressing delight over Kuwaitis’ keen interest in Indian culture, cuisine, and creative arts such as music and cinema.

During the press conference, Dr. Swaika disclosed that the trade exchange between India and Kuwait reached $13.8 billion last year. He expressed the embassy’s commitment to exploring new avenues that could further boost trade given the vast potential in both countries. Additionally, he revealed that the embassy’s consular section facilitated the issuance of 6,000 visas last year, emphasizing the streamlined procedures that enable quick visa processing, often within a day.

Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asian Affairs, Khaled Al-Yassin, who attended the occasion, expressed his pleasure at participating in the event organized by the Indian Embassy in collaboration with Sadu House. He lauded Indian textiles for their exquisite craftsmanship and beautiful designs, underscoring their global reputation.
