Cabinet Takes Action Against Landowners Engaging in Illegal Drug Activities
The Kuwaiti Cabinet of Ministers, headed by First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, has been alerted to a serious issue affecting the country’s agricultural sector. According to reports, some landowners are secretly storing and manufacturing narcotic substances and psychotropic drugs on their properties, with the intention of distributing them within Kuwait.
In response to this alarming development, the Council of Ministers has tasked two ministers, Dr. Mahmoud Abdulaziz Bushehri (Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy) and the Minister of State for Housing Affairs (who oversees the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources, or PAAAFR), to take immediate action to revoke the ownership of these agricultural plots from their current owners.
This decision comes after evidence has confirmed the involvement of these landowners in illegal activities that contravene Kuwaiti laws, regulations, and established controls governing the use of agricultural land.
