BREAKING: FBI Investigates Attempted Assassination of Former President Trump

The FBI has launched an investigation into an attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, which occurred at one of his golf courses in South Florida. According to officials, the Secret Service fired in the direction of an individual armed with an AR-style rifle who was outside the golf course where Trump was playing golf.

Sequence of Events

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon when the Secret Service agents behind the former president spotted an individual armed with a gun along the tree line and bushes outside the golf property. The agents fired upon the individual, who fled the scene, dropping the weapon and pursued by local law enforcement. The individual was later taken into custody on I-95.

Investigation

The FBI has recovered an assault-style rifle, a scope, two backpacks, and a GoPro camera from the scene. Officials are still trying to determine whether the individual fired upon the Secret Service agents or aimed at Trump before they engaged with him. The motive behind the attempted assassination is also still unclear.

Campaign Response

Trump’s campaign has confirmed that he is safe and has been briefed on the situation. Eric Trump, one of the former president’s sons, tweeted that "serious change is needed" in response to the incident.

Presidential Reaction

President Biden and Vice President Harris have both been briefed on the incident and are reportedly glad that Trump is safe.

The attempted assassination has raised concerns about the safety of political candidates and their families. With the general election just 51 days away, this incident may lead to a significant increase in security measures for Trump and other political figures.
