Johnson says Secret Service 'dropped the ball' after second Trump assassination attempt
A Brush with Danger: A Close Call at Mar-a-Lago
As I sit down to write this article, I am still trying to process the surreal events that unfolded at Mar-a-Lago just hours ago. My wife Kelly and I were set to meet with President Trump, and fate would have it that we were just a few feet away from him when the second assassination attempt took place.
A Presidential Meeting
We were scheduled to meet earlier, but after the shooting attempt, we joined the President immediately. We spent almost three hours with him, and I must say, I was deeply impressed by his composure and resolve. Despite the grave danger he had just faced, President Trump remained unrattled, a testament to his strength and leadership.
A Personal Reflection
As I reflect on the experience, I am struck by the President’s unwavering commitment to the American people. It is clear that he is a strong individual, unshakeable in the face of adversity. In an era where political leaders are often quick to crumble under pressure, President Trump’s resilience is a beacon of hope.
Investigating the Attempt
The Secret Service has dropped the ball, and it is inexcusable. We have a task force investigating the events in Butler, Pennsylvania, and we will expand its scope to include the events that transpired in Florida on Sunday. We must get to the bottom of this and ensure that it does not happen again.
Additional Funding
If additional funding is needed to ensure the President’s safety, Congress will supply it. However, we are told that it is a manpower problem, and even if we were to allocate $3 billion tomorrow, it would be impossible to hire 2,200 new Secret Service agents in a short period of time.
Protecting the President
As we are less than 50 days away from the election, it is imperative that we prioritize the President’s safety. Any candidate of his stature deserves the same level of protection, and we will ensure that he receives it.
