Marco Silva delighted with Fulham's start to the Premier League season
Fulham’s Best Start to a Premier League Season in 20 Years: Marco Silva’s Delight
James Green caught up with Fulham manager Marco Silva ahead of their trip to Manchester City on Saturday, where they will look to continue their impressive start to the season. The Cottagers have made a remarkable start to the campaign, with their 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest last weekend taking them to the top of the table.
Marco Silva: A Collaboration of Hard Work and Team Effort
Silva was delighted to be nominated for Manager of the Month, but he was quick to deflect attention from his own individual achievement, crediting the entire team for their hard work and dedication. "I see it as a collaboration of the great work the whole team’s done to start the season off," he said. "It’s much more about the team as just more about the club and the individual aspects."
Ral Jimenez: A Striker Back in Form
One of the key players behind Fulham’s success is striker Ral Jimenez, who has scored in each of the last three games. Jimenez’s return to form has been a welcome sight for Fulham fans, who remember the devastating injury he suffered at the Emirates Stadium in 2020. Silva praised Jimenez’s work ethic and determination, saying, "He had some very good weeks always knocking the door and I told him and even Rodrigo knows and it’s not because Rodrigo lost his position was much more in the training session he gained the right to be there because he was showing something this momentum was really good."
Competition for Places
Fulham’s strong start to the season has been built on the back of intense competition for places in the squad. Silva mentioned the right-back and midfield positions, where there are several players vying for starting spots. "This is a good problem for us," he said. "This is good to improve the quality improve the standards and it’s a process well the process is certainly leading us up the table."
Tough Test Ahead
Saturday’s trip to Manchester City will be a stern test of Fulham’s credentials, but Silva is optimistic about his team’s chances. "We’ll be hoping to use the form we’re in and use that first clean sheet of the season last weekend at the city ground as motivation that we could get something from this game," he said. With Fulham’s momentum building, it will be interesting to see how they fare against the Champions.
