However, that doesn’t mean their treasure-hunting days are over. In the season finale, 18 months after completing their biggest quest yet, the Pogues meet an elderly man, Wes Genrette, who approaches them at the ceremony. He pulls out a captain’s log belonging to the infamous pirate, Blackbeard. The log contains records of Blackbeard’s ship’s routes until it was shipwrecked in 1718, leaving a treasure trove of gold still lost. Genrette believes the Pogues are the perfect partners to help him find it.
The Pogues embark on a new adventure, and as they do, we’re introduced to Blackbeard’s history. Born in 1618, Blackbeard was an English pirate with a reputation for brutality and violence. He even flew a black flag with a skeleton piercing a bloody red heart above his ship, the Queen Anne’s Revenge. His shipwrecked in 1718, and its location was a mystery for centuries until its discovery in 2011.
The Pogues soon learn that Blackbeard’s treasure is tied to their own history, as the pirate terrorized the Outer Banks region, including North Carolina. For Madison Bailey, who plays Kiara on the show, growing up in North Carolina meant learning about this infamous pirate’s lore. “It’s cool that they’re tying the treasure hunt back into history rooted in North Carolina. It was a whole segment of our history class in eighth grade that we just were learning about pirates, and Blackbeard was a big deal.”

The Pogues are back in action, and their next adventure begins when Genrette presents them with a challenge: help him break a curse that has haunted his family for centuries. The curse is tied to a mysterious amulet, said to bring good fortune and protection to its wearer. The Pogues follow a series of cryptic clues, which lead them to an underground crypt beneath a Charleston church.
As they navigate the treacherous journey, they must outwit a group of rival treasure hunters, including the cunning Lightner. Their research leads them to believe that the key to the curse lies with the fabled Blue Crown, an artifact rumored to grant wishes and offer invincibility. The Pogues soon find themselves in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, racing against time to uncover the secrets of Blackbeard’s treasure.
