Pharrell Williams’ advice for kids finding their superpower | Nightly News: Kids Edition

Welcome to Nightly News Kids Edition!

As we head into the fall season, we’re excited to bring you a special edition packed with stories about the wonders of the world around us.

Why Leaves Change Colors

Before we dive into our top stories, let’s start with a fascinating topic: why leaves change colors in the fall. Our trusted correspondent, Dr. John Torres, explains that it’s all about the science behind it. "Leafs are like the PowerHouse, making energy and shipping it off to the rest of the tree," he says. "When it gets colder, the light and temperature changes make this job more difficult, and the chlorophyll breaks down, revealing the natural colors of the leaves – those yellows, oranges, and sometimes even purples!"

Inspiring Kids: Grant’s Generosity

Next, we feature an inspiring story about a young boy named Grant, who instead of asking for birthday presents, chose to raise funds for those affected by recent hurricanes. With the help of his parents, Grant started a GoFundMe page, and with his friends’ and neighbors’ donations, he raised over $2,000 for the American Red Cross. Kudos to Grant for showing us that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big difference!

Sports Updates

In the world of sports, we’ve got exciting updates for our young sports fans. The New York Liberty has won their first WNBA Championship, and LeBron James and his son Bronny made history by becoming the first father-son duo to play together in an NBA game.

‘Piece by Piece’ Movie

You might know Star Wars: The LEGO Movie, but did you know that LEGO is also used in a new movie about[Music]’s life? Fel told us that he chose to make the movie in LEGO because he wanted to do something "crazy and unheard of" and show his creativity. With his grandma’s encouragement, Fel hopes to inspire kids to find their own "superpower" and be proud of who they are.

Halloween Helpers

As we head into the spooky season, Halloween brings out the best in us – costumes, treats, and trick-or-treating! But for some kids, the cost of dressing up can be a challenge. That’s where the Halloween Helpers come in. This small but mighty team collects gently used and outgrown costumes and distributes them to community organizations across the country. In its 16th year, Halloween Helpers has given away over 25,000 costumes, bringing joy and confidence to children who otherwise might not be able to participate in this beloved holiday.

Remember, Kids Can Make a Difference!

As we wrap up this special edition, we encourage our young viewers to remember that every act of kindness, no matter how small, can make a big impact. Whether it’s helping others or being true to oneself, we all have the power to make a difference. Stay curious, stay creative, and keep on learning!

Thanks for joining us on this edition of Nightly News Kids – we’ll be back soon with more stories and insights about the world around us!
