Battleground states too early to call as Florida abortion amendment fails
Election Night 2022: Trump and Harris Neck and Neck in Several States
As the night wears on, the votes continue to come in, and the races in several key states remain neck and neck. In the state of Texas, NBC News projects that Donald Trump will win, while in North Dakota and South Dakota, the same trend holds true. In Wyoming, Trump is the projected winner, giving him a total of 154 electoral votes so far.
But the action is elsewhere, where the margins are narrower and the races are still up in the air. In Michigan, polls have just closed, and it’s too early to call, as is the case in Arizona. In Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, the votes are still trickling in, with no clear winner yet. In Georgia, the famously tight race is still too close to call, with 66% of the vote counted and Donald Trump slightly ahead.
Georgia is a state that has seen a dramatic shift from 2016 to 2020, with the Atlanta metro region playing a crucial role. The vote is still coming in, but so far, Democrats are performing surprisingly well in the Atlanta suburbs, with Kamala Harris running strong in areas like Cobb, Gwinnett, and Fulton counties.
In North Carolina, the numbers are also too close to call, with the vote still being counted. The Research Triangle area is a key battleground, and so far, Kamala Harris is performing well in counties like Mecklenburg, Wake, and Orange.
Meanwhile, in Ohio, Trump is leading by a significant margin, with 55% of the vote counted, and over 266,000 votes. However, Kathy Hochul is performing well in Democratic strongholds like Franklin, Cuyahoga, and Hamilton counties, with 60% of the vote in.
As the night wears on, the suspense builds, with many states still too close to call. Will Kamala Harris be able to pull off a surprise upset, or will Donald Trump emerge victorious as expected? The answers will have to wait, as the votes continue to come in.
