BREAKING: Trump Suggests US Take Over Gaza Strip, Proposing "Ownership"
In a shocking development, President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stood together at the White House, with Trump suggesting that the United States could take over the Gaza Strip, sparking a flurry of reaction and surprise.
According to Kelly O’Donnell, reporting from the scene, Trump stated, "The only reason the Palestinians want to go back to Gaza is that it’s a demolition site. It’s a demolition site. Every building is down, it’s a very dangerous and precarious place. They can occupy a beautiful area with homes and safety and live out their lives in peace and harmony, instead of going back and doing it again."
The President also outlined a vision for a post-conflict Gaza, where Palestinians would be relocated to safe communities in neighboring countries, under construction.
This proposal is an extraordinary departure from decades of US foreign policy, and raised many questions about how exactly the US would take ownership of the Gaza Strip, and what it would entail. Netanyhau, seemingly taken aback, replied that it was worth exploring, but did not express full support for the idea.
The announcement sent shockwaves through the region, with reactions pouring in from around the world. The move has sparked fears of a potential US-led takeover, and protests have already begun in response.
