Breaking News: Manchester United Announces Ticket Price Increase for Next Season
Disappointment for Red Devils Fans as Prices Go Up for Third Consecutive Year
Manchester United has confirmed the ticket prices for their men’s team for next season, and it’s not good news for fans. For the third successive year, the club has increased its season ticket prices, with an average rise of 5% taking the cost to around £2250 per game.
This news will come as a blow to many of the club’s loyal supporters, who have had to endure an increasing financial burden over the past few years. The new prices will take effect from the new season, which is set to kick off in August.
The under-16 category is the only exception, with the club opting to freeze prices to "preserve access to Old Trafford for our next generation of fans." This decision was made in consultation with the Fans’ Advisory Board, who looked at ways to maintain affordability for younger fans.
Furore Among Fans
The news has sparked anger among fans, who have been feeling the pinch despite the club’s astronomical growth over the years. Many have taken to social media to express their frustration, saying that the increases are disproportionate to the team’s performance on the pitch.
Club’s Justification
In a statement, the club’s chief executive, Omar Berrada, said, "We appreciate the loyal and patient support of our fans and particularly our season ticket holders who represent the core of our match-going support. We understand the importance of their backing for the team and have worked hard to come up with a pricing package that is fair and reasonable."
Berrada went on to explain that the 5% increase is necessary to offset rising operating costs, saying, "After 11 consecutive years of price freezes, we increased prices by 5% for the past two seasons and intend to do the same for the next season. Prices remain significantly lower than a decade ago when adjusted for inflation and at similar levels to peer clubs in the northwest of England."
What’s Next?
The fans’ reaction to the news will be keenly watched, with many expected to voice their discontent through traditional and social media channels. However, the club’s decision to increase prices will likely generate a significant amount of revenue, which will be crucial in financing their ambitious transfer policy.
As the new season approaches, fans will be eagerly awaiting the team’s performance on the pitch, but many will be left wondering if the price of watching their beloved United will become too high to bear.
