President Trump’s Ongoing Fight with Federal Judges Over Mass Deportation Plan

As we begin our show today, President Trump’s ongoing fight with federal judges over his contentious mass deportation plan is making headlines once again. The Administration is set to be in court today for a hearing on a three-judge panel, where lawyers will argue that the President has the power to continue deporting alleged Venezuelan gang members to a prison in El Salvador, a country that many of the deportees have no ties to.

According to NBC News White House Correspondent Aaron Gilchrist, "We expect that these deportations will continue, which has been the goal of the Trump Administration. We’ve seen this weekend at the same time, this has been an Administration that’s been very critical of the federal judges who have been putting out rulings that have either shot down or paused some of the executive actions that President Trump has taken."

Targeting Lawyers, Law Firms that Sue the Administration

In a new development, the Trump Administration has been targeting lawyers and law firms that file lawsuits against the Administration. A memo, released over the weekend, directs the Attorney General and Homeland Security Secretary to review lawyers and law firms that file suits against the Administration and take action if deemed "frivolous." Concerns have been raised about the potential chilling effect this could have on the ability of lawyers to challenge the Administration’s actions.

Steve Bannon, a former advisor to the President, has also commented on this issue, saying that the President will "put these law firms out of business."

Concerns over Social Security

Meanwhile, there are growing concerns over the future of Social Security, following comments made by Elon Musk, who has referred to the program as a "Ponzi scheme" and advocated for its elimination. The White House has sought to downplay concerns, with a spokesperson saying that anyone receiving Social Security benefits will continue to receive them, but with the Administration aiming to root out "waste, fraud, and abuse" within the program.
