Ahead of the semi-final second leg against Athletic Club at Old Trafford tomorrow, Manchester United manager Ruben Amarn will hope his team can wrap up the tie and reach the Europa League final. The visitors from Spain will be eager to mount a comeback after being 3-0 down from the first leg, a result which followed a disappointing away performance.

Manager’s Reaction to Disappointing League Form

Ruben Amarn has been speaking in his pre-match press conference and reflected on the disparity between United’s form in the Europa League and the league. When questioned about whether winning the European competition would redeem a poor league campaign, he replied, "We know that this season was really disappointed for everybody. When asked about his captain’s future, Amarn seemed adamant, stating, "We want to keep the best players and Bruno is clearly one of the top players in the world. So um, our idea didn’t change, we want Bruno here."

Another player linked to a move away in January has spoken out on his future at Old Trafford. Alejandro Garnacho, who has drawn praise for his performances in recent weeks, including an assist and a goal against Brentford, stated that he is committed to the club, saying, "I’m happy, I have a contract here until 2028, so I’m happy."

Will United be Able to See Out the Victory?

Manchester United’s ability to see out a lead and protect a victory has been an issue for their manager in the past. The team has a history of being defensive-minded when they have a lead, often attempting to park the bus, suffocating their opponents, resulting in negative performances.
