In an interview last week, he expressed his uncertainty about his future, saying: "I’ve only got a year left and things like that and a lot’s getting spoken about and a lot’s getting said, but my focus is on being a dad for the next couple of weeks and enjoying that time with the kids and then I’ll try and come back in the best shape possible for preseason and then you know we’ll see what the future holds when that when the decisions come."

The 28-year-old has been a vital part of Liverpool’s success in recent years, and if he were to leave Anfield, it’s likely that the Reds would look to replace him with a player of similar calibre.
