Announcer: Good evening, everybody! Welcome back to our special broadcast! It’s July 4th, but we’re not just celebrating independence, we’re following up on some of the biggest stories of the day.
Ellison Barber: This has been a day of celebration and signing of the president’s Big, Beautiful Bill into law. We’re waiting for him now.
[Break music plays]
Announcer: For news, we go to our top stories tonight!
Ellison Barber: Here’s our first story, as we reported. The devastating flooding sweeping through central Texas, killing at least six people with at least 20 children missing. We have Bill Karins standing by with the latest on the forecast.
Bill Karins: Yeah, Allison, this was just the setup was just horrific in the location where it happened and the people that were involved in it, I mean, all of the elements just combined to get this to this story and knowing that there’s 20 girls missing from a summer camp. My daughter is at summer camp. I can’t even imagine what these families are thinking and doing. And, you’re two hours away and you’re rushing there and they’re telling you to stay away, but how can you stay away if you know your daughter is missing and possibly clinging in a tree to life? Hopefully. So, I think we’re still just at the tip of the iceberg of seeing just how horrific this story is going to get in the days ahead.
[Cut to our top 2 stories]
Ellison Barber: Number one, take a look at what is left of this gas station in Rome after a massive explosion. At least 45 people hurt, according to Italian news agencies. Officials are investigating, but say a gas leak at the station might have triggered the explosion.
