Update on Flash Flood Recovery Efforts in Kerrville, Texas

Kerrville, Texas – A tragic flash flood event struck the community of Kerrville, Texas, claiming the lives of 27 people and leaving many more unaccounted for. Sheriff Larry Le and other local officials held a press conference to provide updates on the search and recovery efforts.

Search and Recovery Efforts

At the press conference, Sheriff Le announced that rescue and recovery operations are ongoing along the Guadalupe River corridor. Over 100 people have been evacuated, eight injured individuals have been transported to hospitals, and 27 fatalities have been confirmed. Of the deceased, 18 are adults and nine are children, with six adults and one child still unidentified.

Sheriff Le urged the public to report any missing individuals to either the 24-hour hotline at 830-258-1111 or via email at floodrecovery@curr.krt.us.

Community Support

Mayor Joe Herring Jr. of Kerrville emphasized the importance of community support during this difficult time. He encouraged the public to follow the City of Kerrville’s Facebook page for updates on how to help and provide information on the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country.

City Manager’s Update

City Manager Dalton Rice provided an update on the city’s response to the flood. He mentioned that rescue operations continued throughout the night and that the city has a team of 34 personnel from Texas Task Force One, DPS, game wardens, and border patrol on the ground, searching for missing individuals.
