Nottingham Forest Fans React to Nuno Espirito Santo’s Departure

Nottingham Forest fans Kate Mines and George Edwards shared their thoughts on the recent departure of Nuno Espirito Santo and the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as the new manager.

Gutted but Grateful

Kate Mines expressed her disappointment at Nuno’s departure, but praised his leadership and the progress the team made under his guidance. “I am gutted, but I will say that in two weeks’ time when we’re in Spain ready to kick off against Betis, I will definitely be thinking of him and thanking him for taking us there,” she said.

Uncertainty and Concerns

George Edwards, on the other hand, was more apprehensive about the change, saying that it was “ruthless” and expressing concerns about Postecoglou’s style of play. “I think by the end we thought he maybe had to because it wasn’t the right decision on the pitch, but off the pitch, he said things that really made his position quite untenable,” he said.

The Role of Owner Evangelos Marinakis

Both Kate and George praised Marinakis for his role in the club, with Kate calling him “a rebel” who “puts us on the map”. George echoed her sentiments, saying, “I’d much rather somebody as invested as Marinakis in our football club than someone like the Glazers who sit in America and take the profits”.

What’s a Successful Season?

Kate revealed that she believes a successful season would be a top 10 finish in the Premier League, while George was more focused on avoiding relegation and building a strong squad. “I think if we get a trophy as well, fantastic. I think the big thing is you said, and you’ve said it a couple of times about the squad and how much it’s grown and the quality of players you got in there,” she said.

Elliot Anderson’s Future

Finally, Kate and George discussed Elliot Anderson’s future at the club, with Kate expressing her desire to see him thrive in a Forest shirt. “You know, a player like Elliot Anderson is always going to provoke interest from other clubs and and as fans, we’re used to developing young talent and seeing them thrive and then seeing them go,” she said.

The Verdict

The majority of Nottingham Forest fans, based on voting in our poll, believe that Ang Postecoglou will not do better than Nuno Espirito Santo this season.
