In Video: “I don't want emotion to go out of the game” | Scott Parker on VAR's impact on football's flow
Reflecting on a Positive International Break
As the international break comes to an end, I’ve had the time to reflect on our team’s performances so far, and I’m coming away feeling pretty positive. We faced a tough start with Tottenham away and two away games against Man United, which are always difficult for us. But despite the challenges, I’ve been encouraged by the way we’ve approached these games, learning from our mistakes and showing glimpses of competitiveness.
Jaden and Anthony’s Impact
One player who’s particularly caught my attention is Jaden, who’s been a fundamental part of our team since joining us last year. I’ve always believed in him, and he’s shown incredible potential. After his impressions at Old Trafford, I spoke with him about the importance of moving forward and not letting mistakes weigh on him.
The Evolving Game
The changes to the game, particularly with regards to VAR, have been a major talking point. As a manager, it’s tough to adapt to these changes, but I understand the need for innovation. However, I’m concerned that the game is losing its emotional edge. I want to see that raw emotion and passion that comes with being a fan of the game.
Kyle Walker’s Leadership
Kyle Walker has been a fantastic addition to our squad, bringing much-needed experience and leadership. He’s been instrumental in helping our younger players settle into the Premier League and has been a calming influence on the pitch.
Preparing for Liverpool
As we approach our next game against Liverpool, I know our fans are feeling confident after a good run of results. But I want to emphasize that this is a game of football, and we need to approach it with the same energy and enthusiasm as any other match. We’ll be giving it our all and trying to take the game to Liverpool.
Focus on the Mini-League
While it’s true that our position in the table gives us a slight advantage, we can’t afford to take our foot off the gas. We need to keep pushing and fighting for every point to stay ahead. Our focus remains on the mini-league and making a strong push for survival.
