England Captain Harry Kane a Major Doubt for Wales Clash
England’s captain Harry Kane is a major doubt for tomorrow’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Wales at Wembley Stadium due to an ankle knock. Kane didn’t train with the rest of the squad this afternoon, instead opting to follow his own routine indoors alongside Bayern Munich teammates Bay Leverkus and center-back Jerel Quanza.
The 29-year-old striker had scored his 18th goal in just 10 games for Bayern last Saturday, but hobbled off with five minutes remaining, which may now force Gareth Southgate to make a tough decision about his replacement. Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa, Marcus Rashford, and Jared Bowen are among the possible options to fill the void, while Anthony Gordon has also featured up front for Newcastle this season.
Southgate will also need to decide on a new captain in Kane’s absence, with Jordan Henderson and Declan Rice likely to be the first choices. The likes of Jack Grealish, Jude Bellingham, and Phil Foden, who missed out on selection for the October internationals, may also get their chance to impress.
Wales Look to Regain Momentum
Meanwhile, Wales coach Craig Bellamy will have one eye on next Monday’s massive World Cup qualifier against top-10 ranked nation Belgium, ahead of their trip to Wembley. Bellamy’s team has sufferedrecently, losing two of their last three internationals, although they did secure a 1-0 win over Kazakhstan in World Cup qualifying.
The experienced midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who now plays for Mexican side Pumis Unam, was forced to withdraw from the squad, while leading winger Dan James is also unavailable due to an ankle injury. Bellamy has added Cardiff City’s Isaac Davis and Ruben Cowwell to his squad, while Premier League players Carl Darlow, Joe Rooden, and Ethan Aedu, as well as Spurs duo Brennan Johnson and Ben Davis, and Fulham’s Harry Wilson, are among the new faces.
Can Kieff Moore Add to His Tally?
Rexom striker Kieff Moore has been in scintillating form for his club, scoring four times in nine Championship games this season, and also in his last two games for Wales. Can he add to that tally at Wembley?
Stay tuned for Gareth Southgate and Marc Gie’s press conference from 8:00 PM tonight, as well as Craig Bellamy’s pre-match interview from half 5 on Sky Sports News.
