Boost for Chelsea as Cole Palmer Edges Closer to Return
In a significant development, Chelsea’s struggling winger Cole Palmer may be set to make a timely return to action, with Enzo Moresca expressing optimism about his initial three-week target for the 21-year-old’s comeback.
Moresca, speaking to press ahead of Chelsea’s Champions League tie with Carabag, revealed that Palmer is on track to be available for the Blues’ pivotal fixtures against Barcelona and Arsenal at the end of the month. “Ideally, we would like to have Cole for Barcelona and then Arsenal,” Moresca stated. “You’d like to have you’re hoping you’ve you’ve penciled in Cole for for being available.”
This news is a significant boon for Chelsea, who have been struggling with injuries and disciplinary issues this season. The Blues have been plagued by a series of red cards, with six players, including Moresca himself, earning dismissals in their nine games.
However, while Palmer’s potential return provides a welcome boost, it’s clear that Chelsea’s problems run deeper. Moresca, notorious for his late arrival at training, was bemusingly casual in his demeanour, strolling into the session five or six minutes late and risking further disciplinary action.
Logistical Hurdle Ahead for Chelsea in Baku
Meanwhile, the West London outfit are set to face a physically and mentally demanding away day in the Azeri capital of Baku, where they face Carabag in their Champions League tie. Given the lengthy travel time and potential jet lag, Chelsea will be keen to dispatch the hosts as soon as possible to ensure they arrive back in the UK with a victory and minimal fatigue.
Manager Moresca has sought to adapt to the challenging circumstances by insisting that his team stay on UK time despite the time difference. Once their match in Carabag ends, they’ll enjoy a whirlwind return journey before touching down back in London at 7:00 am on Thursday morning.
As Chelsea strive for all three points, they will have to be razor-sharp in facing a rival eager to see them off.
