Vman: “Relaxed” About Her Future as England Head Coach
Serena Vman, the triumphant head coach of the England women’s national team, is feeling unworried about her contract expiring after the 2027 World Cup in Brazil. Despite guiding the Lionesses to consecutive European Championship wins and a World Cup final appearance in 2023, Vman’s current deal runs out in two years’ time. In a recent interview, she revealed her laid-back approach to her future, stating, “I’m very relaxed about it. I don’t look forward, I don’t plan maybe that looks like it. I just know what I really enjoy and I always want things to be fit from my side and the other side, and then we’ll see what comes on my path.”
On Her Current Contract and Future Uncertainty
Vman’s current contract is set to expire after the 2027 World Cup, but discussions about extending her deal have yet to take place. When asked if she had had clear conversations with the Football Association about her future, Vman replied, “We haven’t had really clear conversations. Sometimes it crosses conversations very like not really in content. Uh but um I’m always like you know 27 is coming. We have um I’m still really enjoying the job. I think the team is still enjoying that I’m around. I think that’s really really important too.”
Reflections on an Incredible Year
As the Lionesses prepare to face Ghana in their final homecoming celebration match of 2025, Vman looked back on an incredible year that has seen the team win the European Championship and two retirements from key players. When asked where this year ranked in her career, Vman praised the team’s preparation and the tournament itself, stating, “I think the camps we had from February towards the Euros was great and I think the tournament itself was incredible again on the pitch I still feel like it was insane how the games developed but off the pitch was really calm and um I think I enjoyed it more than I did of other tournaments before.”
No Plans for the Future
Vman’s remarks suggest that she is not looking too far ahead, preferring to focus on the present moment and enjoying the job. When asked if she had any plans for her career, she replied, “I just know what I really enjoy and I always want things to be fit from my side and the other side, and then we’ll see what comes on my path.” It remains to be seen what the future holds for Vman and the Lionesses, but for now, she is content to take things one match at a time.
