Real Madrid’s Slip-Up Continues as Alonzo Faces the Music
Real Madrid’s Dream Season Quickly Becomes Nightmare
Well, Real Madrid started this season with 13 wins in their first 14 games, but it’s all unraveled for Shabi Alonzo’s side since their 1-0 loss to Liverpool at the start of the month. They’ve won only one of their five La Liga games since then, which has seen them go four points behind their rivals Barcelona at the top of La Liga. Defeat to Manchester City last night has raised further doubts about Alonzo’s future.
Alonzo’s Response: “We’ll Have Tried Till the End”
I think that the performance has been very intense, really professional. We know it was Champions League level game and and they have given their best. So today from my side no complaints at all from from anything. It’s it’s it’s hard to take another defeat but uh we’ll have tried till the end.
Alonzo is saying that he wants his team to work harder and concentrate on both defending and attacking. However, his words may be falling on deaf ears as the players have clearly started to assert their own playing style, refusing to be told what to do.
Stand Off Between Players and Coach
The players at Real Madrid have decided that they are good enough to win games on their own instincts as and when they need to. So, there’s this tension. There’s this standoff and as we always find when these things happen, you can’t get rid of all the players. So, the person that has to go is the manager even when they’re themselves a Real Madrid legend and thought to be, you know, 18 months ago the hottest managerial property in world football.
Players Come Out in Support of Alonzo
We’re with him. We’ve done our best on the pitch. You must have seen it. There’s never a problem between the players and the coaching staff. We always do our best, but this is what’s happening. There’s also a lot of injuries, and it’s us out here facing the music. But we’re not doing well, and there’s no excuse for that. We all need to do better and win. If we don’t win, that’s bad.
Jude Bellingham, the England midfielder, showed strong support for Alonzo, saying: “The manager has been great. I personally have a great relationship with him and I know a lot of the boys do, too. No one is downing tools. No one is complaining or moaning. We take it on the chin and keep fighting.”
Bellingham Speaks About His Own Struggles and Critics
Well, it has been a tough six months or so for Bellingham. The 22-year-old missed the start of the season, having had shoulder surgery. And despite returning to action in September, he was then left out of the England squad in October. Thomas Tukul did, however, bring him back into the England setup for their two matches last month.
When asked about his critics, Bellingham said, “It’s just life, isn’t it really? This is what I’ve signed up for. I play for the biggest club in the world and one of the most scrutinized countries in the world. I don’t want pity. I’m living the dream. People would die to be in the position that I’m in. A few people that are a little bit negative, that’s fine. It comes around always. I just roll with the punches. I’m always focused on the football. When that’s good, then I’m happy. That’s the most important thing.”
