Exclusive Interview: Senator Lindsey Graham on the Middle East and Beyond

In a rare live appearance, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina joined Meet the Press from Tel Aviv, where he had just met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Graham shared his insights on the Middle East peace process, Ukraine, and other top global issues.

Gaza Conflict

Senator Graham expressed skepticism about the prospects for peace in Gaza, citing the failure of Hamas to disarm and the Israeli government’s plans to phase in a new peace plan. “I do not believe Hamas is ready to disarm,” Graham stated. “I believe they are rearming and consolidating power.” He urged President Trump to put Hamas on a “time clock” and threaten military action if the organization fails to disarm.

Iran

On the Iranian ballistic missile program, Graham confirmed reports of a significant expansion of the program and the reconstitution of nuclear enrichment sites. “Iran is up to no good,” he emphasized. While stopping short of advocating for additional US strikes, Graham believed that the international community must take action to curb Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Ukraine

Graham was critical of Russia’s continued refusal to negotiate a ceasefire in Ukraine, citing reports that Moscow is rearming and seeking to reconquer Ukrainian territory. “I think Putin’s going to continue to take the Donbas by force until we increase pressure,” Graham warned.

Venezuela

The Senator expressed strong support for President Trump’s efforts to topple the Maduro regime in Venezuela, calling for sanctions and economic pressure to be applied to Iran-backed Maduro. Graham viewed the regime as a threat to US national security and a source of narco-trafficking and terrorism.

Looking Ahead

In a brief prediction about the future, Graham expressed hope that the coming year would bring positive developments for peace in the Middle East and an end to the Maduro regime in Venezuela. He also endorsed Vice President JD Vance’s future presidential bid, praising his conservative credentials.
