‘Failure of brakes led to collision’

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 11: The Kuwaiti Embassy in Turkey is closely coordinating with the Turkish authorities regarding investigations into an accident involving a Kuwaiti whose car collided with eight vehicles; which led to the death of one person while the citizen was detained, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting sources from the diplomatic sector. Sources told the daily that the consulate in Istanbul spares no effort since the first day and that the investigation has not been completed. “We are verifying the allegation that the car the Kuwaiti was driving was removed from confiscation. A technical defect was found in the brakes that led to the collision,” sources disclosed.

Sources confirmed that this kind of defect makes the car rental company responsible for the accident and it is feared that the car will be repaired before the investigations are completed. This is being followed up as it will lead to burying the truth, instead of holding the company accountable, sources added. Sources said efforts are being exerted to determine the circumstances leading to the accident; asserting there is no truth in the allegation that the embassy, represented by the consulate, did not follow up the case.
